What a strange cigar. This cigar is new as of 2021 and one of CAO's most unique offerings yet - it offers a lot of dried fruit, raisin, wine and leather to it in every pull. This cigar is one of the most distinctly delicious cigars I have ever tasted, and honestly, it is an incredibly unique blend of tobacco and wrapper mechanics that I think deserves a try, but only by aficionados.
The Mortal Coil is a crash course in how to make a unique cigar - this cigar's wrapper underwent an intricate aging process before production of these. As a result, the Mortal Coil has a very identifiable raisin taste to it. It is bitter, but sweet, and it also contains a bit of cabinet spice throughout. As the cigar smokes onward, the wine really rises to the top of the smoke, and your palate suddenly is enriched by the taste of a fine red wine. It is almost bizarre how this cigar creates the taste of a rich red wine in the mouth of the smoker, but it is undeniable. This cigar is like a well-made, slightly less obvious wine flavored cigar on steroids. It's subtlety is enough to please even the most experienced smoker who left the flavored stuff behind long ago.
The Mortal Coil is going to be one of the most polarizing cigars on the market. It is distinctively wine flavored, and if this doesn't sound like your bag, I'd avoid it almost positively. I am not a drinker in any sense, and yet I loved it for how unique and different it is compared to everything else that has released lately. Your mileage may vary, but dang, was it a neat experience. I'd give it a whirl if I were you.
